Book of the Bible - Gospel of St. John...
பரிசுத்த வேதாகமத்தின் பத்தகம்
- யோவான் எழுதிய
நற்செய்தி...
The Author:
John, son of Zebedee and Salome,
brother of James was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus
and one of the first to be chosen by Jesus.
Of the twelve disciples,
John was considered to be the closest to Jesus.
Prior to becoming a disciple of Jesus,
he was a fisherman and then a disciple of John the Baptist.
John the Baptist who described himself as the Voice of one calling in the desert
“Make straight the way for the Lord”,
was announcing the coming of Jesus.
According to early church history,
the author John spent several years as an exile on the island of Patmos
and later returned to Ephesus where he lived and died towards the end of the first century.
About the book:
This is one of the book of the Bible
and one of the four books referred to as the “Gospels”.
Gospels are a record of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
John’s gospel was most likely to have been written between
the time of the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D.70
and John’s time of exile in the island of Patmos.
This book, which is John’s account of the life of Jesus,
does not contain a record of the genealogy,
birth and childhood of Jesus,
nor the parables which were very much a part of Jesus teaching.
Rather, the book recounts the events which provide evidence that
Jesus is the son of God and that by believing in him we may have eternal life.

Books of the Bible - The Psalms and the Proverbs...
பரிசுத்த வேதாகமத்தின் பத்தகங்கள் - சங்கீதப்புத்தகம், நீதிமொழிகள்...
The Psalms:
The book of Psalms is one of the books of the Bible
and is located at the very centre of the Bible.
The book contains a total of 150 Psalms
written by several authors over a period of
approximately 800 years extending from the time of Moses
to the time of the Jewish captivity in Babylon.
David authored around half of these Psalms.
David was a shepherd who later became king over the region of Judah
from 1010 BC and over the entire Kingdom of Israel from 1003 BC until
his son Solomon succeeded him in 970 BC.
Although some of them relate to specific times and events,
the Psalms are not a record of historical events.
Rather, they are an honest expression through prayer and song,
of feelings of the authors reflecting their intimacy with God.
The Proverbs:
The book of proverbs was mainly written by David’s son,
King Solomon during the early part of his reign over the kingdom of Israel.
Solomon who also wrote two more books, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon,
is well known even today for his wisdom.
The book contains lessons about wisdom
and a collection of wise sayings that are as relevant today
as it was during the time of King Solomon.
You will find practical insights
and advice that are of immense guidance to daily living
and above all to the key to wisdom which is to know God.
This book contains 31 chapters,
making it convenient to be read or listened to and meditated upon,
a chapter a day a period of one month.
