Images of Sillalai:
The institution of photography in Sri Lanka was first established in the mid 1840's. Until now people take a lot of photographs connected with their feasts, weddings, associations etc. Now you can click on our page and view the photographs we have collected from Sillalai. Many of us had visited Sillalai in the period 2002-2005 where negotiations were going on, and collected photos from our past and taken some new photographs. If you sit back with any photographs you may think can help us remember our past please share the images with us. We will continue to upload photographs we can find and we are looking for more images for our website. The images are shared for free and there are no membership fees.

This album is not completely finished. We are continuing to add more special people’s photographs and their biography information. We haven’t collected all the information, but we are trying very hard to trace these facts. Until we get further information and photographs from these people we will share what we have now. Are you one of those lucky people who are holding any kind of information about any of these people we have posted already, or any new ones you find important for Sillalai history and you think it should be posted in our site, you can send it to us.

Thanks to Rev. Fr. Rohan Paul for making these photos available. We had the feast of our patron and also the Silver Jubilee of our ceremony. For the celebrations the Papal Nuncio was here in Sillalai. Rev. Fr. Rohan Paul was so busy with all the celebrations. He was the editor of the Silver Jubilee souvenir also. The Papal Nuncio visited Sillalai also and our people gave him a grand welcome. You can view some shots here.

Sillalaians Traditional Naaddukkuuththu - Folk Play:
Sankiliyan Folk Play held at Sillalai Community Centre, Sillalai, Jaffna on 15^th Aug 2004. The Naaddukkuuththu "Folk Play" consists of dancing, acting and musical dialogue inextricably interwoven. Sillalai is famous for the Folk Play. Here you can view some shots taken. Thanks to Francis Neville Dilhan for sending this nice pictures.

Our Lady of Remedies Celebration 2004:
The feast of the Assumption on the 15^th of August is celebrated with great pomp and ceremony. Highlights of the festival are a concelebrated mass, novenas, procession with the statue, the chanting of traditional hymns to the ringing of festive bells and almsgiving ceremony.

Annual feast of Our Lady of Remedies Sillalai on Aug 15^th:
Pictures from the annual feast of Our Lady of Remedies at the Sillalai St. Mary's Church. Members of other Churches in Jaffna Diocese also joined us for Mass and Prayers for Peace and Christian Unity. Here you can view some shots taken during the ceremony.

The annual feast of Kathirai Chelvi at "Little Rome" Sillalai - 2002 declaration was taking place at the Madonna of the Chair church grounds.
